SOUTHEAST TEXAS — Relatives and many Southeast Texans are mourning the death of General Mike Cokinos.
He died Thursday in Houston. Cokinos was 98 years old.
Gen. Cokinos received a Purple Heart and a number of other medals for his service in World War II.
He went into insurance and real estate and was always very proud of his service to the nation.
Cokinos was the last surviving member of four brothers, including Pete, Jimmie and Andrew.
Pete was an oilman, Jimmie was a former mayor of Beaumont and Andrew served as a city councilman.
Services are pending for General Mike Cokinos.
