Vidor city officials: Super Walmart will bring in more businesses

Vidor city officials say a new super Walmart will help draw people and businesses into the area. City officials also say they expect to see their sales tax revenue continue to increase.

"The increase in sales tax that we are seeing will help us get through that period and continue into the future to help us do things, serve the citizens in a way," says Vidor Mayor Robert Viator. "Improving roads or drainage and basically just move forward."

City Manager Mike Kunst says because of the increase in sales tax, the city could decrease property taxes in the area.

"It could be 25 to 30 percent," says Kunst.
