Manhunt leads to arrest of robbery suspect

A man is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with a robbery at a home in Bridge City.

After a two-hour manhunt this morning, and setting of a perimeter around Jefferson County, deputies have arrested and transported the suspect to the Jefferson County Jail.

Deputies responded to a wrecked vehicle found in a canal near the Hilderbrandt Bridge, along Highway 365. Deputies say the driver then ran into the woods before he was later caught. The Sheriff's office found the truck was stolen from a Bridge City home.

Multiple agencies were involved in the search. Jefferson County Sheriff's, Bridge City Police, and The Port Arthur Police Department.

The Jefferson County Office says the identity of the suspect will not be released, due to the ongoing investigation with the Bridge City Police.

Authorities would like to remind residents to be aware of surroundings, and call authorities for any suspicious activity.
