Drivers eager for proposed improvements to US-69

TXDOT has proposed improvements to Highway 69. A public hearing was announced at Roy Elementary School Thursday, for SE Texas drivers to give their opinion on the roadways.

"I think it's great I think it's fantastic whenever they choose to improve the infrastructure in the area," Gary Martin said.

TXDOT says the proposed project will improve safety, accommodate traffic growth, and reduce congestion from Interstate 10 to Tram Road.

"The amount of traffic that goes from Beaumont North it gets very complicated," Ada O'Connor said.

Sarah Dupree, TXDOT spokeswoman, says the main goal is to widen Highway 69 to three lanes in each direction.
