    Bipartisan bill proposed to make animal cruelty a federal felony

    Florida congressmen, Vern Buchanan and Ted Deutch, introduce the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture bill to combat animal cruelty .

    Those prosecuted for severely injuring, killing, and sexually exploiting animals may face federal felony charges.

    This does not include veterinarian care, hunting, and protecting life or property.

    If the bill is passed, the punishment may include a fine or up to seven years in prison.
