The final autopsy report in the murder investigation of a Nederland man killed inside his home has been released.
It goes into extreme detail, even describing what murder victim Michael Legg was wearing at the time of his death. a white shirt, green shorts and gray socks.
Based on his injuries, Legg, 40, did not go down without a fight. Nederland police officers discovered Legg's body inside his home on Beauxart Garden Road on May 9th.
Time of death was 1:55 a.m. A forensic pathologist performed the autopsy the next day.
Legg had bruises throughout his body, his arms, his legs, his back and face.
Lacerations to his wrists reveal someone tied his hands together.
There's evidence Legg's killers beat and choked him to death.
According to the autopsy, Legg suffered fractures to the throat, including the larynx (the voice box) and the hyoid bone (tongue bone).
Two men, Duane Owens Jr., 24, and Dcobien Dorsey, 19, along with a woman, Ashlie Martinez, 24, are charged with Legg's murder. Investigators say their motive was robbery.
According to court documents, Martinez, who is pregnant with Owens' baby, admits breaking a wine bottle over Legg's head.
The autopsy shows a sharp wound to the left side of his head, apparently from that wine bottle, and Legg's body had two fragments of green glass with it when it arrived at the medical examiner's office.
The final autopsy report also includes a toxicology test showing what Legg has in his system at the time of his death. There was alcohol, Adderall, NoDoz, and Clonazepam, a medication for anxiety, but results conclude that all those items were below toxic levels.
