Couple's trailer stolen after fleeing from Easter Sunday floods

An Orange County couple is trying to locate their travel trailer that was stolen on Easter Sunday.

The couple hauled the trailer out off their property near the Sabine River after water started to creep up to the trailer on Sunday.

"We had no clue, we just saw the water coming up fast and we didn't know what to do," says Susan Samuels. "It started coming over the road and you don't know if it was going to to stop because it didn't stop the first two times."

Samuels and Roy Schultz hauled the trailer to the corner of Highway 12 and Highway 62 in Mauriceville when their truck started to overheat.

They left the trailer near TxDOT vehicles and stayed at a nearby La Quinta. They said they checked on the trailer regularly.

When Schultz returned to the trailer Tuesday morning, the trailer wasn't there.

"My stomach started turning cartwheels right there," says Schultz.

The Schultz's trailer has the name Dakota written on the side and also has blue palm trees, seagulls and blue lettering on the sides.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the travel trailer, you're asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff's Office at 409-883-2612.
