Medical problem may be cause of driver ending up on football field during practice
Police in Orange say a medical problem may be the reason a driver lost control of his vehicle and ended up on the football field where little league practice was taking place at West Orange-Cove Middle School.
Police say the 55-year-old driver lost control of his Ford Explorer at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of WO-C Middle School. The vehicle accelerated through the parking lot, struck another parked car, then a large trash dumpster, before traveling onto the football field. At the time of the accident, children and parents were using the football field for little league practice.
No one was injured as a result of this accident. It is believed the driver suffered a medical episode that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was transported by Acadian EMS to a local hospital. He has also been referred to a medical advisory board for an examination regarding his suitability to operate a motor vehicle, according to police.
