Breaking News: Man shot and killed at apartment complex on N. Major Drive
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Marcus Mitchell, 37, of Beaumont.
Press release from BPD: On Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9:59 p.m. Beaumont Police Officers responded to a victim of a shooting call at Cypress Bend Village Apartments located at 1450 N. Major.
Officers arrived to find a victim on a stairwell in the apartment complex. The victim was non responsive and had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper chest area. Beaumont EMS was on scene and it was determined that the victim was deceased.
A justice of the peace was notified and has ordered an autopsy. The victim’s name will be released as soon as proper notifications have been made. The investigation is still on-going.
Detectives are seeking help in locating a vehicle that was seen leaving the complex immediately after the shooting. Witnesses described a white 4 dr. BREAKING NEWS: A man has been shot and killed at the Cypress Bend Village Apartment Complex at 1410 N. Major Drive in Beaumont.
Beaumont Fire & Rescue confirms the man died at the scene.
The shooting on N. Major Drive Thursday night is the second homicide in one day in Beaumont.
There was a shooting Thursday morning in the 5600 block of Concord Road.
Regarding the Concord Road shooting, police say a man was shot, but didn't call 911. Instead, he had someone to drive him to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth, where he later died.
Beaumont police were notified about the Concord shooting once the man arrived at the hospital.
With Thursday night's shooting on N. Major Drive, it is now Beaumont's fifth shooting this year.
