Beaumont to add 'In God We Trust' decals to emergency vehicles

Beaumont city council approved a proposal to add 'In God We Trust' decals to police, fire department and ambulance units, voting 5-2.

Two council members, Virginia Jordan and Audwin Samuel, opposed the decals, citing possible problems with litigation in the future.

"Litigation cost and that would involved the taxpayers and I would really hate to see that," says Jordan.

Samuel says he had to separate his personal belief for what he felt were the 'best interest of the citizens'.

The decals are being paid for by Councilman Mike Getz, who back in January insisted on paying for the decals out of pocket, saying he felt 'so strongly' about the decals, he would pay for them himself, in order for the decals to not be paid for with taxpayer dollars.

There's no word official time when the decals will be put on the vehicles.

More details on the decals.
