Argument leads to violence, one victim with non-life threatening injury

BUNA — Jasper County deputies were dispatched to County Road 739 in Buna around 8 Tuesday night in response to a shooting. According to Jasper County Sheriff's Office, deputies located several shell casings in the road.

A 66-year-old male was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

Samuel Menefee, 51-year-old of Buna was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault Family Violence with a weapon. Menefee is currently being held in the Jasper County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office says it appears the two relatives were having an argument over land that escalated to violence. The investigation is ongoing.
