Hi Southeast Texas! Thanks for welcoming me all the way from Massachusetts. I grew up in a small town just north of Boston called Ipswich (yes I am a Patriots fan… Sorry…Kind of.) When I’m home, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family at the beach, on the boat, or pretty much anywhere outdoors. I love playing pick-up games of all sports (but soccer mainly,) and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Unfortunately for me, looks like I’ll be taking a break from that while I’m in Southeast Texas!
I knew I wanted to be in news from when I was in elementary school. A meteorologist for a local station in Boston visited my school, and talked about both weather, and news. From then, I made it my goal to be a reporter.
I studied broadcast journalism at the University of Maryland (GO TERPS!) and graduated in 2016. Throughout college, I held internships at WJLA in Washington D.C., WHDH in Boston, and The Fox News Channel Washington D.C. bureau.
Studying and working so close to our nation’s capital made me very interested in politics. In my senior year at Maryland, I reported for Capital News Service, where I focused on both the Maryland state legislature and the Maryland delegation in congress. I am the proud recipient of a regional student Emmy for one of my stories with CNS. All of my experiences have prepared me to report accurately, fairly, and with great integrity.
Despite loving to ski and snowboard, I’m not a huge fan of the cold. I am so thrilled to start my career here in Southeast Texas where everyone is as warm and welcoming as the weather. The people here are so unique, and everybody has a story. That being said, if you see me around at the gym, grocery store, coffee shop or the local watering hole, feel free to say hi and share your story! Also, don’t hesitate to email or tweet me at firstname.lastname@example.org or @PeterEliopoulos. Hope to talk to you soon!
