Another teen certified as adult, charged with capital murder in Kera Teel killing
A 15-year-old has been certified to stand trial as an adult in the killing of a pregnant woman in Beaumont earlier this year.
Corey Spencer Jr., who was 14 at the time of the killing in June, is charged with capital murder for the deaths of Kera Teel and her newborn baby.
The probable cause affidavit alleges Spencer was the one that shot and killed Teel at the Sienna Trails Apartments. Another 15-year-old, Johnny Phifer Jr., and 23-year-old Dustin Bernard are all charged with capital murder in addition to other charges related what authorities call a crime spree across Beaumont over the summer.
Phifer was certified last week as an adult.
Both Teel's and Spencer's families attended the court hearing Monday afternoon.
