Prominent East Texas couple killed in helicopter crash
From Steve W Stewart/KJAS:
A prominent East Texas couple has died in a northwest Louisiana helicopter crash. The incident, which occurred Wednesday evening about 10 miles southeast of Shreveport, claimed the lives of Center businessman Terry Bailey and his wife, Pam.
The Bell B429 went down into Wallace Lake, located in DeSoto Parish. Local officials say the couple had just departed Shreveport Downtown Airport and were headed back to Shelby County.
The Baileys owned and operated High Roller Wells LLC of Center, a company that services the oil and gas industry with water disposal and hauling.
The bodies of the couple were recovered on Thursday morning, and now a salvage crew will work to remove the aircraft from the lake. Federal authorities will then begin the task of trying to determine a cause of the crash.
Center Mayor David Chadwick on Thursday issued the following statement:
“The City of Center grieves with the family of Pam and Terry Bailey in the tragic loss of these two native citizens and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey had a deep love for their community and enjoyed being a part of its growth and success. We will miss their devotion to our community and its citizens, their vision and spirit of entrepreneurship, their generosity and Christian witness in their daily walk. They have enriched our lives and leave a lasting footprint on our community.”
