PAPD believes all residents are accounted for following flood

PAPD believes all residents are accounted for following Tropical Storm Harvey.

Port Arthur police has stopped going door-to-door looking for flood victims.

Police Chief Patrick Melvin told KFDM/Fox 4 that his department believes that everyone is accounted for.

Even though officers aren't physically knocking on doors, Chief Melvin says officers are still checking on people.

"Our eyes and ears are still open because if we're responding to one home and a neighbor tells us they haven't seen (their) neighbor, we are going to do the research just to make sure that neighbor is safe," Chief Melvin said.

Also, the Port Arthur Police Department has deputized more than 75 Louisiana officers to keep looters away.
