Friends and family members have confirmed to KJAS News that a Jasper resident has died following a Thursday afternoon one-vehicle accident in Sabine County. 45-year-old Chris Williams, a 1990 Newton High School graduate, died from his injuries despite the efforts of emergency responders to save him.

DailyNewsAndMore.com is reporting that the accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Highway 96, approximately 2 miles south of the caution light in Bronson.

According to the report, the Pineland Police and Fire Departments arrived a short time later to find that the driver of the vehicle had been ejected, and the vehicle was laying on its roof next to the highway.

Those at the scene said that the vehicle had been traveling southbound before it rolled over several times, but what caused the accident is still unknown.

The report said that a medical helicopter was requested to respond, however, emergency personnel cancelled that request and opted to instead transport the victim to Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill where he died.
