Man facing aggravated assault charges for wine bottle attack at Kroger
KFDM has learned a Beaumont man is facing two counts of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon following a wine bottle attack at Kroger that left the victim critically injured.
Anthony Wayne Stoker, 40, is in the Jefferson County jail and investigators expect a judge to arraign him Tuesday morning and set bond.
If convicted of the 1st Degree Felony he could face up to life in prison.
Officers say surveillance video taken shortly after 3 p.m. Monday shows Stoker hitting the victim several times in the head with the wine bottle and the assaulting the man while he was on the ground.
The victim was taken to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth in critical condition.
Officers are still trying to determine a motive.
According to court records, Stoker's criminal history dates back more than 20 years.
It includes drugs, trespassing, resisting arrest and family violence.
