Children ages seven to eighteen raced down the road for a chance to make it to the finals at the Southeast Texas Soap Box Derby, which is hosted by the Spindletop Rotary Club.

It's the biggest soap box derby west of the Mississippi.

Our own Dana Melancon has been the race announcer for 17 years.

And our own Fox 4 car made it to the finals along with other soap box derby racers.

The final takes place Sunday, May 6 also on the Maury Meyers Bridge.

And, the championship race takes place in Akron, Ohio.
