Five injured in head-on crash south of Jasper

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Monday evening accident left five people injured. It happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 252 near County Road 355, a few miles south of the Jasper city limits.

The Jasper Fire Department was called to the scene to assist with the Jaws of Life, and a medical helicopter was also sent to transport a patient.

Officers said that a small white Toyota car left the scene and they were searching for it. It's not known what connection it had to the crash.

Davis said the driver of the Ford, 61-year-old Percy Hamilton, of Jasper, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital with serious injuries.

According to Davis, the driver of the Dodge, 60-year-old Marilyn White, of Jasper, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries.

Davis said there were three young children in the Dodge, and they were all transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
