Call for changes near site of crash that killed 71-year-old woman leaving Halloween venue

People are calling for improved lighting and parking near the site of a hit and run collision that killed a 71-year-old woman who was leaving a Halloween venue with her great-grandchildren.

Wanda Spoonmore died at a hospital following the Friday night crash on Highway 12 in Vidor.

"A lot of times you'll hear cars hit their brakes all of the sudden. And just pray no one is getting hurt," said Rhonda Golden, who live near location.

Spoonmore was struck while crossing Highway 12 with her great-grandchildren.

"There's no lighting. It's hard to see if there's anybody on the road," said Golden.

She says improved parking is also needed.

Vidor Police are looking for the driver who struck Spoonmore and left the scene. Call Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers if you have information. You could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 for an arrest and conviction in the case.
