The Hardin County Precinct 6 constable has resigned and another has replaced him.

The Hardin County Commissioner's Court approved Ross Jordan on July 31 to serve in the position.

It comes after Tim Moody resigned, citing health problems.

In August of 2016, former Constable Moody had been indicted on a misdemeanor charge of abuse of official capacity due to a dispute over $350.

Litigation in that case is on-going.

Jordan started his new job on Tuesday, Aug. 1 and will fill the position until the 2018 elections.

Precinct 6 covers the Batson and Saratoga areas.

The Hardin County judge says filling the position in the rural precinct is important because constables do more than serve civil process.

KFDM/6 News on Fox's Jessica Crawford has the report.
