81-year-old woman from Lumberton killed in collision, 75-year-old man seriously hurt
An 81-year-old woman from Lumberton is dead and a 75-year-old man from Warren was listed in critical condition at CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont after a collision in Lumberton, according to information Chief Danny Sullins provided to KFDM News.
The chief has released the woman's name--Betty Nichols of Lumberton.
He says Bennie Cleveland was driving a pickup south on Highway 69 near West Chance shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck an SUV. The SUV flipped over and Nichols died at the scene.
A deputy saw the accident in his rearview mirror.
